You’ve seen the billboards. And the posters. And the fliers. If you’ve so much as walked outside a single time in the last few months, you’ve probably noticed the image of a beautiful and lithe Chinese woman in a silk gown leaping across a blue sky. Shen Yun (roughly translated as Divine Dance) has been getting so much hype for good reason—they are the premier Chinese classical dance troupe and have included Sacramento on their world tour this year. Shen Yun combines dance styles originating from a range of Chinese historical periods, dazzling costumes, rich backdrops and classic Chinese music. The result is a feast for the eyes and ears that has captivated audiences worldwide. This dizzying, masterful production is a celebration of China, of dance, and of the human spirit. Catch one of their two performances at the Community Center Theater on Jan. 14 and 15.
