Sacramento Magazines Corporation has a new neighbor downstairs—a friendly Farmers Insurance agent named Asher—and he gave us a tip about a Second Saturday reception taking place this weekend at The Urban Hive, 1931 H St. Sacramento-based artist Jose Di Gregorio will be showing a collection of paintings. Di Gregorio will have a total of 23 paintings on display, with 19 of them mid to large-scale drip paintings, which he made especially for the show. Di Gregorio was born in Puerto Rico, studied at Pont-Aven School of Contemporary Art in France, graduated from the Herron School of Art and Design in Indiana and currently serves on the board of directors for Verge Center for the Arts.
Adding to the evening’s cool vibe, Musical Charis will perform an acoustic set at 6 p.m.—sponsored by Concerts 4 Charity—and Neil Haydon will play an acoustic folk set starting at 7 p.m. The event takes place from 6 to 9 p.m. Di Gregorio’s exhibit runs through the end of the month.
