Sometimes we curse the hot Sacramento sun, but think about it: There are some advantages to living in a city where the sun peeks out 265 days a year, including the ability to harness natural energy for cooking. But how?
You can learn all about it at the Sacramento Solar Cooking Festival on Saturday, July 19 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at William Land Park. Solar cooking demonstrations will be provided by international experts who are descending on our fair city from as far away as Kenya and Hong Kong to share their favorite cooking techniques for using a solar cooker—i.e., the sun. And check this out: Just as the sun is free, so is the event, sponsored by Solar Cookers International.
