If you’ve been yearning for the music of yesteryear—namely, the 1800s—don’t miss the Sacramento Choral Society and Orchestra performance of “European Masterworks” on Saturday, March 8 at 8 p.m. at the Community Center Theater.
The melodious program will feature music by Charles Villiers Stanford (“Stabat Mater”) and Felix Mendelssohn (“Symphony No. 2, Op 52 (Lobgesang)”) and the sensational singing of sopranos Marina Boudart Harris and Carrie Hennessey, alto Malin Fritz, tenor Mathew Edwardsen and baritone Eugene Villanueva. Projected supertitle translations will let you catch every luscious lyric and a pre-performance talk at 7 p.m. by maestro Donald Kendrick will have you feeling like a true music insider.
This performance of “European Masterworks” is dedicated to SCSO cellist and friend Judy Waegell.
