For the third year, Old Sacramento will light up the night sky this holiday season. Raley’s Theatre of Lights, a symphony of lights, sound and visual effects, goes back to when the beloved poem The Night Before Christmas was introduced in Sacramento in 1857.
The free event begins with the lighting of the city Christmas tree on Nov. 23 at 6 p.m. The 20-minute lightshow, on balconies and rooftops of Old Sacramento’s historic buildings (on K Street between Front and Second streets), starts at 6:45 p.m. The show runs most nights through New Year’s Eve.
