Pig Bowl Presents Guns & Hoses

Still reeling that the 49ers aren’t going to the Super Bowl? Console yourself by going to the Pig Bowl—which pits area law enforcement against fire service personnel (Get it? Guns and Hoses?) this Saturday.
OK, I realize the Pig Bowl and the Super Bowl are two different ball games in more ways than one. But just think, with the Pig Bowl you can watch some good football and not worry about your neck tensing or your blood pressure soaring. Plus, the event benefits a number of local charities including WIND Youth Center, Mustard Seed School and the Sheriff’s Toy Project.
Support the troops by bringing a donation for the Blue Star Moms group to send overseas. They’ll be set up at the entrance, ready to take your goods. Click here for a “wish list” of items.
The game takes place at Sacramento State’s Hornet Stadium. Pre-game activities start at noon; kick off is at 1 p.m. Tickets are $10 and children 5 and younger get in for free.
