PFLAG of Greater Placer County’s Diversity Celebration & Fundraiser

In 1972, Jeanne Manford marched in a gay pride parade in New York City carrying a sign that read, Parents of Gays: Unite in Support for our Children. Because so many gay and lesbian people approached her asking that she talk to their mothers and fathers, she decided to start a support group for parents. That group, now called PFLAG—Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians & Gays—and has grown into a national nonprofit with more than 200,000 members and 500 affiliates. PFLAG promotes the health and well-being of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender persons, their families and friends.

PFLAG of Greater Placer County will hold a Diversity Celebration & Fundraiser on July 8. The evening features buffet appetizers, desserts, no host wine and beer, and entertainment by the Sacramento Gay Men’s Chorus. Tickets must be purchased by June 25.
