Sydney King has always had a passion and talent for art. From painting rocks as a child to participating in art classes and volunteering at the Children’s Bereavement Art Group (CBAG) at Sutter Health in Roseville throughout high school, she’s always found a way to partake.
It wasn’t until she graduated from University of Nevada, Reno that King decided to start selling her artwork as a way to help pay her way through graduate school at St. Mary’s College. It all started with her neighbor’s request for a painting of her three Australian Shepherds.
After a few posts on a Facebook pet group, King’s inbox became flooded with commission requests.
Through word of mouth and social media posts, King gained popularity (even shipping pieces to Connecticut and Texas) and created her business, Syd’s Pet Portraits.
Her artwork is done with meticulous detail and care. Pieces start at $200 and takes an average of one week to complete. She works as counselor at Rocklin High school and paints in her spare time.
Cat, dog, bird, sea creatures, animals dressed up? Doesn’t matter—she’s seen and painted it all.
