Nepotism alert. Our very own staffer, Greg Reason, will be performing in his first improv show at ComedySportz this Sunday, March 6. OK, technically writing about his performance does not fall under the definition of nepotism; we’re not related. But one could argue I am a bit biased. But with good reason (Get it? “Reason.” I should be performing on that stage!). Greg is great guy to work with and pretty funny.
He’s is considered a Minor League Improv Comedian, which means he is an up-and-comer or newbie at ComedySportz (check out the Main Stage Players on Friday and Saturday evenings), and he takes it in stride. “I love being laughed with and laughed at while being spontaneous,” he says.
A little bit about what to expect at a ComedySportz show: First, it’s not really about sports. Instead, two teams of players compete for points based on scenes generated by audience suggestions. It’s along the same vein as the TV show “Whose Line Is It Anyway?” There’s a referee to regulate and judge the show and audience participation plays a role. But don’t worry, you won’t be forced up on stage against your will.
ComedySportz is located at 2230 Arden Way, Suite A. It’s not readily visible off the street, but just remember that it’s behind the Arby’s. The show starts at 7 p.m. and tickets are only $5 at the door.
