Anyone who has lived in East Sacramento for more than a year will know this event by sight: It’s time again for the Sacramento Turn Verein’s Oktoberfest. Yes, it’s that time of year when J Street is teeming with drunken revelers dressed in lederhosen, German barmaid dresses, and outfits that look curiously like Peter Pan costumes. And it’s not just for the Germans anymore—in this beer-obsessed culture of ours, you don’t have to be able to trace your bloodline back to Prince Ludwig of Bavaria in order to enjoy a stein in good company. As always, the Turn Verein delivers great beer, food and music to swish your billowing dirndl to. I just hope you like sauerkraut. For more information, click here.
When: Friday and Saturday, Oct. 11 and 12
Where: Sacramento Turn Verein, 3349 J St., Sacramento
