Movies on a Big Screen at the Guild

This Sunday kicks off the August “Movies on a Big Screen at the Guild” with “An Evening of Animated Shorts”by Moscow-born filmmaker Ladislaw Starewicz. A $5 admission gets you into the historic Guild Theater, located in Oak Park. The movie starts at 7:30 p.m. Other movies this month include Zombie Girl: The Movie, Back to School Night at MOBS: The Sex & Drugs Edition! and Strongman. On Aug. 14, MOBS invites you to be a part of a live taping of the nationally syndicated late-night horror show “Cinema Insomnia.” As you can see, not all (if any) of these events are family friendly, but they sound like a heck of a good time. I could gauge that from reading “Movies on a Big Screen” co-founder Robert McKeown’s account of how MOBS got started—check out the “About” section on moviesonabigscreen.com. It’s a great website to peruse, even if you don’t make it to one of the movies/events.
