After going into hiding when issues arose around finding a host, Sacramento’s free form, radical, grown-up talent show Midtown Out Loud is back. Formerly at home at Mondo Bizarro and Midtown Village, this community open mic club has found a new home at Shine, and is beginning its rebirth on March 19, with further performances every first and third Wednesday of every month. Anybody is welcome to perform, and all you have to do is show up and sign in at the start of the night. Performers are welcomed to show off their spoken word, read their own poetry or the poetry of others, sing, dance or play music. Past performances have been extremely popular, and have been a bonding experience for all the midtowners who gather to celebrate art, music, literature, and good food and drinks. Midtown Out Loud is an expression of the Sacramento community vibe, and is an outpouring of love and passion and art for its organizers, performers, and audiences. For anyone who loves Sacramento, the opening night of Midtown Out Loud is an ideal chance to not just survey the local talent but to celebrate the ties we all share to each other and this growing city.
