Matisyahu Headlines at Jewish Heritage Festival This Sunday

1912

You heard his song “One Day” while watching the 2010 Winter Olympics—this Sunday, you can see the Grammy-nominated, Brooklyn-based Hasidic Jewish reggae/rapper Matisyahu perform live at the Jewish Heritage Festival, taking place on the west steps of the state Capitol from 1 to 4.30 p.m. Matisyahu’s performance will top off this annual celebration of Jewish culture, put on by the Jewish Federation of the Sacramento Region. Other festivities include a “green” fashion show showcasing local designers and models, a shuk (Israeli-style street market), a food court replete with schwarmas and falafels, cultural exhibits and entertainment, opportunities to learn about 100 years of kibbutzim in Israel and an extensive Kids Fun Zone. Best of all, the festival is free—such a deal!
