Of all the shows I saw during my 13 years in New York, one of the most memorable was “Forever Tango,” which was such a sensation in its initial Broadway run that it returned three times—hence “forever.” But Sacramentans don’t need to buy a plane ticket; they can just hop in the car and head to Folsom, where the show is being performed Jan. 3, 4 and 5 at Harris Center for the Arts. What makes this show so memorable, you ask? For starters, who can resist the seductive allure of couples entwined in a passionate dance, especially when it’s full of clever, often playful nuance? The music is mesmerizing too, full of verve and bold rhythms, performed by a small orchestra using authentic Argentinean instruments. But I think what amazed me most were the female dancers, who never missed a step while performing incredibly intricate footwork in dizzingly high heels.
