Low-Cost Community Microchip Clinic for Cats

Attention cat owners: On Saturday, Nov. 13, from noon to 2 p.m., Happy Tails Pet Sanctuary at 6001 Folsom Blvd. in East Sacramento is hosting a Community Microchip Clinic for Cats. The cost: $5 per cat. About the size of a grain of rice, a microchip contains information that can be accessed by an animal shelter or vet to find the owner of a lost pet. A microchip isn’t meant to take the place of a collar and a nametag—both signify right away that the pet has a home—but if the nametag gets lost, then what? The process of microchipping takes just few seconds and is similar to giving your pet a routine vaccination; most microchips last the pet’s lifetime. And boy will the microchip be worth it if your little fur ball ever gets lost.
