Local Couple Raises Funds for the March of Dimes

There’s an extra-special reason to attend Saturday’s NASCAR race over at Infineon Raceway in Sonoma. Local racecar driver Dave Smith will be driving the March Of Dimes NASCAR, raising awareness—and, hopefully, funds—for the MOD, which works to save and improve the lives of babies.
The March of Dimes holds a special place for Smith and his wife, Dorine; the couple’s twin daughters were born 14 weeks premature this past October. Adrianna survived but Siena died after suffering a massive brain hemorrhage. The Smiths want to help shield as many families as they can from experiencing the same loss they have suffered; supporting the MOD is their way of giving back to the organization and educating the public. Dave’s car will have a pair of angel wings painted on it, in memory of Siena, and SNT Motorsports Development and Hyperfocus Motorsports will donate 15 percent of their NASCAR sponsorship to the March of Dimes.
Pre-race ceremonies and driver introductions start at noon, with the race itself commencing at 12:45 p.m.
