Even if you’re not a Kevin Bacon fan (and shame on you, if that’s the case), you’re probably a fan of at least one Kevin Bacon movie. The guy has gotten around—”Footloose,” “JFK,” “Apollo 13,” “A Few Good Men,” “Mystic River,” anyone? Or for those of less discerning taste, there’s “Hollow Man,” “X-Men: First Class” and “Wild Things,” to name a select few. In other words, Mr. Bacon has a wonderful and diverse filmography. He is a man for all seasons.
Naturally, then, the creators of Sacramento Bacon Fest could not resist the chance to celebrate such an aptly named celebrity with this year’s Kevin Bacon Tribute Night. On Friday, Jan. 23, 11 local bands are hitting the stage at Old Ironsides to cover songs from Kevin Bacon movies. Drewski’s Hot Rod Kitchen will be on-site to dole out the bacon-themed munchies. It’s almost too perfect. In previous years, this event has set record attendance numbers for the venue. Does that mean people really love bacon, or people really love Kevin Bacon? Find out for yourself by stopping by for the show and maybe belting it out to a couple classic tunes. For more information about this event or other Bacon Fest festivities, click here.
