Keep the Spirit of ’45 Alive

In 2010, Congress voted in support of a new national day of remembrance to preserve and honor the legacy of those who endured the Great Depression and World War II. Spirit of ’45 Day is observed on the second Sunday in August every year, and this year, a “Times Square Kiss” mosaic—that’s composed of photos and love letters from 1941 through 1945—will be unveiled on Aug. 14. Sacramentans with photos and love letters from that time period are encouraged to scan their items and send them to the Spirit of ’45 nonprofit for the mosaic, and can do so from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday Jan. 18 at Sierra Pointe Vintage Senior Living in Roseville.
