Harlem Globetrotters

2716

The Harlem Globetrotters really are globetrotters—their current tour takes them from America’s heartland to France, Puerto Rico and beyond. Thankfully, they’ll make a stop in Sacramento, too, on Jan. 20 at 2 p.m. at Sleep Train Arena. That the event collides with the Martin Luther King, Jr. federal holiday should make it easier for local fans to catch the famous team, whose basketball-meets-comedy-meets theater events are truly one of a kind. The theme of the 2014 tour is “Fans Rule,” which according to their website (globetrotters.com), means “YOU decide the new rule we add to Globetrotters basketball, a rule that could affect the outcome of the game!” It promises to be a lot of fun for the family—or for anyone, for that matter. Just get ready to hear a lot of “Sweet Georgia Brown”—it’s been their theme song forever.
