Summer’s almost here. (At least I think it is, but you would not know by the weather.) Anyway, that means tons of fun outdoor activities. That deserves a toast, and you can do so June 4 at the Grape Escape. The food-and-wine event—with the emphasis on the wine—takes place at Cesar Chavez Park at 10th and J streets from 4 to 7 p.m. Sac Mag is among the sponsors of the Grape Escape, so make sure to stop by our booth to say “hi” and pick up a free mag or two. (While there, sign up for a subscription. OK, plug over.) Tickets are $40 in advance and $50 at the door, but you’ll save $5 if you buy your ticket at area Raley’s and Bel Air stores. That takes the price down to $35. Not bad. One more thing: designate a driver or hail a cab. Don’t even risk it. Better yet, make a weekend of it by spending the night at one of the nearby hotels; many are offering special rates for those attending the event. For more information, go raleysgrapeescape.com.
