Fundraiser for Galt K-9 Unit

I got word about this fundraiser, which takes place at MIX Downtown (1531 L St.) this Thursday, March 24. Earlier this year, Dahla, a Belgian Malinois who was part of the Galt’s police department’s K-9 unit, was injured on the job. Her absence leaves a heavy burden on the unit—there is only one active K-9 team left, not adequate to cover both patrol and the narcotics unit. So a fundraiser is being held to replace Dahla. The event, which costs $10 to get in, starts at 8 p.m., with raffle and silent auction winners being announced at 10 p.m.

If you’re like me, your first question is, “How’s Dahla?” She’s fine. She is being adopted by her officer handler and his wife and they are considering making her the team mascot. Although she can no longer work on the force due to a pinched nerve in her neck, she is a pretty happy dog, I am told.
