‘Folk Inspirations’

Ready for some awesome orchestral tunes? The Camellia Symphony Orchestra starts its 51st season with “Folk Inspirations” on Saturday, Oct. 12 at 7:30 p.m. at the Sacramento City College Performing Arts Center.

Maestro Christian Baldini will lead the opulent orchestra through classical folk compositions that are more than just music for him.

“‘Folk Inspirations’ is a very special program that features four works that borrow musical material from sources outside the concert hall,” Baldini explains. “I have chosen composers that are very close to my heart, and the audience is really in for a treat with a concert program that offers variety, energy, colors from the world and very sensual atmospheres.”

The program will also include soprano Carrie Hennessey singing the stunning Bachiana Brasileira No. 5 by Brazilian composer Heitor Villa-Lobos. The piece is written for only the orchestra’s cello and a solo soprano voice—a sound that is sure to be pure magic.
