Edible Gardens Tour

2087

Even with the drought, Sacramento is becoming greener in some ways. Now, it’s not enough to have a beautiful yard—you’ve got to have the compost pile and the fully functional vegetable garden, too. If you’re in need of inspiration to take your lawn to the next level, look no further than the Edible Gardens Tour. Now in its fourth year, this self-directed tour allows ticketholders into the backyards of private East Sacramento homes. Visitors can stop by the Urban Farm, which features mandarin oranges, blueberries, squash and rosemary, or the Whimsical Farm, which is host to persimmon, basil, kale, pear and banana trees, or one of the other four gardens on the tour. The Master Gardeners, whose planning and hard work brought these plants to life, will be on site to talk to guests and answer questions. Attendees can also enjoy music from Sacramento Symphonic Winds, win door prizes or purchase small garden-themed gifts at select gardens. For more information, see here.
