The Delta King is a rather remarkable boat. Yet, I feel, it’s a boat we take for granted. Sure, is doesn’t move, locked to dock as it is, but it can still transport you—whether it’s through the fantasy of theater at Suspects or Capital Stage productions, or a lovely meal at the Pilothouse Restaurant.
Without a doubt, however, my favorite summertime lounge spot is upstairs at the Delta Bar & Grill. Sitting on the old wood deck, sipping a cocktail, watching the boats go by and the sun set over West Sac, there are fewer places I’d rather be. It’s one of Sacramento’s little gems, a tiny oasis three stories above the water, with river views and friendly service. If you haven’t taken a long afternoon to sit at the river lately, do yourself a favor and relax.
