OK, so here’s the story. In 2008, during the writer’s strike, Joss Whedon (creator of such hits as “Buffy the Vampire Slayer”) got together with a few friends and wrote a short piece for the web called “Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog.” Since it was self-produced and only for online consumption, it was safe from the restrictions of the writer’s strike. Also, since it was well-made, clever, and released during an entertainment drought, it was wildly popular.
Move the story along a few years and we find Sac State’s Christopher Carlson putting on a staged version of the cult web sensation on campus. Nearly every one of the campus performances were sold out and rarely seen by folks not affiliated with university, but now, it’s out for public consumption.
