With the Selland family gearing up to launch a new Italian East Sac eatery focusing on pasta dishes, now’s the time to administer the litmus test for all Italian joints: can they make a good spaghetti and meatballs? (Judging by the quality of all the other Selland family restaurants, the answer is probably going to be yes). As part of the Sacramento Food Film Festival, the Sellands are hosting a special spaghetti and meatball night at the Clunie Community Center in McKinley Park on Friday, March 28. Now in its third year, the festival showcases a mix of documentaries and dramas about food, with proceeds going to the California Food Literacy Center. While most of the films featured during the festival’s run are aimed toward the adult viewer, spaghetti night is for people of all ages. Not only will the Selland family be dishing up pasta, salad and garlic bread, but dinner is followed up with a screening of the popular animated comedy “Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs.” The film tells the story of a young inventor who designs a machine that turns water into food. Unfortunately, the machine winds up in the sky, making the clouds rain meatballs and more. What follows is a charming, lighthearted, and mouthwatering story for the whole family to enjoy.
