China’s world-renowned national acrobatic group is leaping into Folsom the weekend of the 19th for several performances at the Harris Center for the Arts. Audiences will be dazzled by the artistry of this talented troupe from Beijing, who’ve been continually performing since 1951. The National Acrobats of the People’s Republic of China are masters not only of acrobatics but also ballet, contortionism, plate spinning, tumbling, and much more, with more than two hundred of their graduates having placed gold or silver in international acrobatic competitions. On this current tour, “Cirque Peking,” ticket-holders can expect a stunning mesh between Cirque du Soleil-like visuals and more traditional elements of Chinese performance art. The show has high drama, edge-of-your-seat thrills, and a good dash of humor, too, not to mention some eye-catching costumes. Catch this troupe of gravity-defying, body-bending athletes while you can. For more information, click here.
