So I got an e-mail the other day from a guy called “Dr. Yo-Yo.” How could I pass up reading that? Actually, I am familiar with Dr. Yo-Yo, also known as Chris Allen, as I spoke with him last year regarding the California State Yo-Yo Championship that came to Downtown Plaza. Yes, there is a yo-yo championship—hey, it’s harder than it looks—and the 2011 championship is taking place this Saturday at Downtown Plaza. Check out the event (it’s free to spectators) and you’ll likely find yourself impressed as yo-yoers (yo-yodies?) from California and nearby states compete for more than $2,000 in cash prizes and a chance to place at the multistate contest and at the nationals.
