California State Home and Garden Show

Looking to breathe new life into your home in the new year? Is having a vibrant garden among your resolutions? Just looking for something to do during the doldrum days of winter? This weekend’s California State Home and Garden Show at the Sacramento Convention Center downtown might be just what you need. Taking place Friday–Sunday, Jan. 6–8, the show is chock full of information. Seminar topics include everything from clearing your clutter to how to plant fruit trees. In addition, dozens of home-improvement exhibitors will be on hand to answer your questions (and vie for your business). Also in attendance will be Joey Green, a guy I had never heard of until the show, but who I understand does a whole (hilarious) bit on unusual uses for name-brand products. (Spam as furniture polish?) Check him out at 2:15 p.m. on Friday and 3 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Show hours are Friday from noon to 7 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is $5 general, children 16 and younger get in free.
