Looking for some indie cred? Name drop that Bombay Bicycle Club show at Assembly on April 11. The (frankly adorable) British indie band are making a stop in Sacramento before they head on down to Indio for what is arguably the coolest music festival in the country, Coachella. Now, a band doesn’t get invited to play Coachella unless they have it totally going on. So with Coachella already vetting these guys for me, my attitude is: If they’re good enough for Coachella, they’re good enough for me. Not to mention that Bombay Bicycle Club (BBC for short) has established themselves over the past few years as a force to be reckoned with when it comes to putting on a good live show. Their music is buoyant and irresistibly dancey; the band members bring their records alive on the stage. Their sound is unpretentious and warm. It fills up a room. It makes you smile. The BBC show will be a welcome break from Sacramento’s far-too-frequent metal shows and rap shows. No offense to metal and rap, of course, but every once in a while you need that dash of solid indie rock to balance things out. Thanks, BBC. For more information, see here.
