Bobby Caldwell

Bobby Caldwell’s amazing vocal prowess first made itself known to the masses in 1978, when his R&B/pop ballad “What You Won’t Do for Love” became a smash hit. While that’s still the song most people associate him with, Caldwell—who will appear Feb. 13 at the Assembly Music Hall—has had a remarkably prolific career, steadily recording and touring, starting his own record label, and writing songs for both himself and other artists, including “Heart of Mine” for Boz Scaggs and “The Next Time I Fall” for Amy Grant and Peter Cetera. Meanwhile, “What You Won’t Do for Love” is like a cat with nine lives (or more), frequently showing up in “sampled” form on songs by R&B and rap artists such as Aaliyah, Kool G Rap and Master P. Clearly, talent as big as Caldwell’s transcends generations—and hopefully, young music fans as well as the old school crowd will show up to pay their respects when this master of blue-eyed soul makes a rare Sacramento appearance.

The concert is 21+ and general admission seating only.
