The first weekend of October is one of my favorite times of the year. Not only is it my birthday weekend, not only is it the unofficial start of the NBA season, not only is it the time of year where the heat finally breaks, but it’s a weekend to party in Amador County, my favorite wine producing region.
This year’s “Big Crush” wine festival features wines from more than 30 Amador wineries, including three of my favorite: Runquist, Convergence and Dillian. Each winery will be putting out specially prepared foods, hosting live music and offering special barrel tastings on site. Tickets are $30 for the weekend, or $20 for Sunday only. Spend a day or two driving around beautiful Amador County soaking up the scenery and sipping on some of the best Zinfandels and Barberas anywhere.
