Tucked away just outside of the city of Sacramento is the Aerospace Museum of California, home to more than 30 vintage military and civilian aircraft. This year marks its eighth annual fundraiser, the BBQ on the Ramp. Guests are invited to enjoy wine-tasting and barbecue, all while dining in a hangar under beautiful airplanes built half a century ago and kept in pristine condition. Following the dinner and live auction, the hangar door will be opened and guests can stroll outside among the aircraft, getting an up-close look at part of California history. The night will be topped off with music from the ’40s and a fireworks display just beyond the airplanes. Don’t think of it as a night of patriotic hedonism, though. The proceeds are going to the museum’s aerospace education program, which educates and motivates students to pursue education and careers in the sciences. For more information, look here.
