Looking for a theater experience that’s unlike any other? Don’t miss the limited engagement of “An Iliad,” presented by SacImpulse Theatre on Oct. 30 and Nov. 1 and 2 at the Wilkerson Theatre in midtown.
“An Iliad” (as you might have guessed) is based on Homer’s poetic epic “The Iliad.” The English-class staple has been translated by Robert Fagles and reimagined by playwrights Lisa Peterson and Denis O’Hare, and will be performed in its Sacramento premiere by local fave Jerry Lee. Lee takes on the sole role—that of poet, performer and narrator, alongside a single musician—in this riveting retelling of Homer’s gripping tale of love, loss and war.
The play opened this past Friday, and has three more performances: Oct. 30 at 8 p.m., Nov. 1 at 8 p.m. and Nov. 2 at 2 p.m. For tickets and more information, call (916) 749-6039 or visit sacimpulse.com. The Wilkerson Theatre is located at 1723 25th St. (in the R25 Center for the Arts).
