Ever wondered about the kind of food John Sutter and company ate during the time he founded Sutter’s Fort in 1839? You can get a taste (literally) at A Taste of History, taking place Sept. 25 at Sutter’s Fort State Historic Park. Join chefs from Cafe Vinoteca, Grange, Mulvaney’s B&L and Spataro as they prepare a four-course sit-down dinner reminiscent of what dinner might have been like back in the day (but with modern upgrades). Tickets to the event, which benefits Sutter’s Fort SHP, are $85 but that includes a keepsake program, which contains historic recipes and their modern adaptations. Get there at 6:30 p.m. for honey tastings and olive oil tastings courtesy of Sacramento Beekeeping and Apollo Olive Oil; dinner is at 7:30 p.m.
