Sacramento may be nearly 400 miles away from the movie industry in Los Angeles, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t have its own crop of talent. For 14 years now, Access Sacramento has been sponsoring a film festival that features short films produced by Sacramentans. Every year, creatives around town submit their scripts, and 10 are then green-lit by a panel at Access Sacramento. This year, the 10 shorts will be lighting up the big screen at the Crest Theatre on Sunday, Oct. 6. The films range in genre from comedy to serious dramas, but they all have one thing in common: They are each shot in Sacramento. The festival encourages its participating filmmakers to capture the essence of the city. Viewers can enjoy trying to recognize each location.
