This Saturday through Monday, hundreds of local artists and musicians will gather at Fremont Park at 15th and Q streets from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. for the 21st Annual Chalk It Up!—a festival that raises money to benefit children’s art education. Come watch more than 200 volunteer artists create chalk art masterpieces on the sidewalks surrounding the park—while listening to live music, eating delicious food from such places as Drewski’s Hot Rod Kitchen, Blackbird Kitchen & Bar and Tuli Bistro, and enjoying some Shock Top Belgian White or Sierra Nevada Pale Ale in the beer garden. There will also be many hands-on art activities for children, led by professional artists and groups like the Sacramento Public Library, each day. The event is free, but partaking food and drink is extra. Event details here.
