Since coming to Sacramento from Kansas City in 1985, the Sacramento Kings NBA basketball team has held a firm position in our hearts. The team has filled the stands at Arco Arena with purple-clad fans and trotted out stars such as Reggie Theus, Danny Ainge, Chris Webber, Mike Bibby, Peja Stojakovic, Bobby Jackson and Kevin Martin. These past and present players have brought notoriety to the region not only on the court but off, with community appearances, charitable contributions and restaurant openings. The spotlight shone most brightly on the Kings between 1999 and 2006, when they made it to the playoffs, sending fans over the top with purple passion, especially during Kings-Lakers contests. Since 1997, the team has been owned by Maloof Sports & Entertainment, with Joe and Gavin Maloof at the helm. Go Kings!
