Although in 1994 producing artistic director Buck Busfield told Sacramento magazine, “There’s an unpredictable element to theater,” his theater, the B Street, has been quite predictable. Predictably entertaining, that is. Busfield has a knack for choosing compelling plays populated with quirky characters, and he can point to a subscriber base topping out at more than 7,000 to prove it. After 18 successful seasons—the first production took to the stage in 1991—the theater plans to soar to even greater heights as it prepares to relocate to Sutter Medical Center’s urban village.
