Wine of the Week: Bogle 2008 Clarksburg Petite Sirah Port

As the days get chillier and the skies get greyer, we all need a reminder of Sacramento’s glorious summer months. I’m happy to report that Bogle Vineyards has managed to bottle a concentrated, sumptuous momento of Sacramento summer in its 2008 Petite Sirah Port. Crafted with grapes grown in nearby Clarksburg, the sweet, intense port explodes with huge, rich, sunny flavors of ripe blackberries and black cherries, with an intriguing raspberry jam and chocolate finish that lingers deliciously on your palate for moments after you sip. This fabulous, locally-made port comes in an elegant, slender bottle and would make a great holiday gift for your favorite wine lover (and don’t forget a bottle for yourself).
