Try It: The Porch’s Tuscaloosa Fried Green Tomatoes


I’m reveling in this season’s bounty of gorgeous, sweet, sun-kissed tomatoes, but a dish I had recently at The Porch Restaurant and Bar reminded me that green, unripe tomatoes can also knock my socks off. The Porch plates up a marvelous version of fried green tomatoes – swathed in a crunchy, delightfully textural cornmeal crust, the sturdy, toothsome tomatoes are sprinkled with feta cheese and paired with chewy slices of applewood-smoked bacon slices and a halved, hard-boiled organic egg.
