Try It: Spataro's Polpettini

As November (and the cold season) approaches, I start thinking about comforting, belly-warming foods. On chilly evenings, it can tempting to stay hunkered down at home, eating pot roast and mashed potatoes. But if you’re in the mood to dine out, consider Spataro Restaurant and Bar, whose menu is filled with nurturing, rustic dishes. One of my favorites – a perfect blustery weather nosh – is the kitchen’s polpettini, mini-sized beef and pork meatballs braised in tomato sauce, swimming in a plateful of super-creamy polenta and sprinkled with Parmesan cheese. This soothing, unpretentious dish will warm you all the way down to your toes.
