Interested in learning the intricacies of lamb and hog butchering? Danny Johnson of Taylor’s Market in Land Park will be leading upcoming classes focusing on the craft of “breaking down” both of these critters.

On Saturday, March 22, Johnson’s morning class—inspired by the beginning of spring—will feature lamb cuts, meat preparation and cooking techniques. The event begins at 10 a.m., and a light lunch will be served. The cost is $40 per person.

On Monday, April 28, Johnson will offer an “intensive” three-hour evening class focusing on breaking down a whole hog. Attendees will not only actively participate in the butchering; they will also take home 35 pounds of cut and wrapped pork. The class runs from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., and costs $300 per person. A $100 deposit is required to reserve a spot, and attendees must bring their own knives for the evening. For further information, call Taylor’s Market at (916) 443-6881 or visit the store’s website.
