Soil Born Farms is offering an interesting class on Saturday, January 11th that introduces participants to the medicinal uses of herbs, ordinary spices and even wild weeds growing right here in the Sacramento region. Taking place at Soil Born Farms’ American River Ranch (2140 Chase Drive, Rancho Cordova), “Your Backyard Medicine Chest” will be taught by Candis Cantin of EverGreen Herb Garden, who will encourage attendees to sample, smell and taste an array of items such as mugwort, dandelion, walnuts, ginger, lavender and California poppies; and instruct students on how to transform these items into herbal medicines. The class is scheduled from 10am to 1pm, and costs $35 ($30 for Sacramento Natural Foods Co-op owners).
