Pluots—Snatch Them up Before They’re Gone

1931

This is a great time to visit your local farmers market, as late summer produce slowly makes way for fall apples, pears and persimmons. There are still peaches and nectarines to be had, but the starring stone fruit right now is the pluot. Available in an array of varieties, the firm-fleshed, yet juicy pluot offers a tangy skin and a sweet interior, perfect for snacking out of hand or incorporating into pies, cobblers or beautifully colored jams. I recently hit the payload with the purchase of four different varieties: Crimson Royal, Flavor King, Flavor Queen and Fruit Punch—all distinctively flavored, and all completely scrumptious.
