PlacerGROWN Website: A Connection to Local Agriculture

2933

As you’ve probably heard by now, the Sacramento region is proud to be known as the farm-to-fork capital of the United States. If you’re interested in getting up close and personal with our region’s agricultural bounty, check out the excellent and informative PlacerGROWN website, which connects people with local family farmers, ranchers and vintners “whose passion is to produce the finest fruits, vegetables, meats and other agricultural products the region has to offer.” By perusing the site you’ll discover destinations such as Belly Rub Farms in Loomis, which offers an array of products, from garlic and basil to fresh chickens and heirloom tomatoes; and Flying Mule Farm in Auburn, which raises grass-fed lamb and free range eggs for sale. Many of the farms listed on the site offer visits and tours by appointment. PlacerGROWN also shares great information about local wineries and farmers markets, and even has an enticing recipe collection—this weekend I’m trying a recipe for leek and pumpkin soup with mandarin butter that I found on the site.
