Missing the Mountains? Indulge in Carpe Vino’s “Alpine Cuisine” This Week

2510

I’ve always been a fan of unique little Carpe Vino in Auburn, whose ever-changing menu beautifully celebrates locally produced produce and foodstuffs. Creative chef Eric Alexander does a great job of offering intriguing theme dinners—and this week is no exception. Inspired by the Winter Olympics, “the promise of snow and proximity to our own Sierra,” Alexander is offering “Alpine Cuisine” for his intrepid guests from Feb. 18-23. The four-course meal costs $49 per person, and diners have several choices within each course. Menu items I’d like to try include Alexander’s version of melted Raclette cheese (heirloom potatoes in a small cast iron skillet, covered with cheese and melted into “gooey deliciousness,” served with rosemary sliced ham, pickles and Dijon mustard; Beef Cheek Goulash; and Black Forest Cake Parfait. To see the full menu, visit Carpe Vino’s website. If you’re interested in making reservations, call (530) 823-0320 or go to opentable.com.
