Hungry? Visit a Food Truck

The weather may be dreary, but the region’s food trucks are still out in full force, rolling up to different locations daily to delight foodies with their distinctive fare. If you find yourself reluctant to cook and want to treat your family to a novel (and non-fast food) dining experience, check out SactoMoFo’s website, which posts the schedule for an array of food trucks, including Bacon Mania, Chando’s Tacos and Krush Burger. SactoMoFo, whose mission is to improve access to street food and to increase the visibility and viability of food truck businesses, also organizes a number of large-scale food truck festivals. The organization wants to remind Sacramentans that the mobile trucks’ tasty offerings are “only the beginning”—that these small business owners, who are heavily vested in their local communities, purchase local ingredients, pay local sales taxes, contribute affordability and diversity to the local food scene, hire local workers, and “offer aspiring restaurant owners an entry point into the possibility of the American Dream.”
