If you’re looking for a reason to visit Old Sacramento, I discovered a fabulous one – The Chef’s Olive Mix on the corner of 2nd and J streets. I spent an entertaining hour in this intriguing little store recently, which offers a dizzying array of olive oils, specialty oils, and flavored balsamic vinegars – and everything in the store is available to taste. If you’re a foodie, you will thrill at the flavor choices, which range from organic Persian lime olive oil and roasted almond oil to coconut white balsamic vinegar and dark espresso balsamic vinegar. Prices are reasonable for these unique items – 200ml bottles cost $11.95; 375ml bottles are $16.95; and 750ml bottles $24.95. This is a great resource for Christmas presents or a spontaneous gift for a food-loving friend.
