If you were one of more than a thousand hungry souls who showed up for the first-ever SactoMoFo (that’s the Sacramento Mobile Food Festival, for those not in the abbreviating mood) back in April, then you know that food truck dining is not only delicious, it’s also rapidly gaining popularity. So in an effort to further spread the word about food on wheels (and collect donations for a worthy cause) the folks at MoFo are putting together a holiday celebration on Dec. 3 under the freeway. What better spot to have a food truck rally, anyway?
More than 20 mobile food vendors will be on location to serve up their tasty treats at 8th and W streets (the same location as the weekly Sunday farmer’s market). From banh mi to burgers, bao to barbecue, there’ll be incredible treats for all.
In addition, the Dec. 3 event is a winter food drive for the Sacramento Food Bank and the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots, so please bring canned food or packaged dry goods and new unwrapped toys to donate. Santa will be available for photos with little and big kids for a small donation to a local children’s Christmas charity.
So bring your appetite, a warm coat, and an item or two to donate and you’ll leave with a warm stomach and heart.
SactoMoFo, Saturday, Dec. 3 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., rain or shine. For more info, go to sactomofo.com.
